The Story:

My recent works explore the sublime beauty of the coastal landscape and the color spectrum, exploring dualities of the physical and the transient. Using bursts of primary hues as a launching point, the subsequent layers flow together in gradients, creating compositions that are kaleidoscopic yet anchored by a steady rhythm.

In my South Carolina studio, I cut, rearrange, and fuse together fragments of canvas. I hand dye sand and bind it to the surface. This process results in contrasting shapes and layers that defy the traditional confines of a canvas, introducing a subtle tension between the fluidity of pigment and the intricate contours of the cutouts.

Much like the myriad of water drops transform into a unified spectrum of color, the new works reflect the philosophical notion that wholeness can emerge from fragmentation, with seemingly disparate parts coming together to form a harmonious entity. Just as a rainbow appears under specific conditions and vanishes quickly, my art captures transient beauty through physical mediums, making fleeting moments tangible and evocative.
