Sculptural Paintings
Sculptural Paintings
These sculptural paintings extend color and texture beyond the traditional rectangle and into physical form. Each composition is envisioned as individual wooden panels wrapped in canvas and painted with fluid acrylic and sand. Repeating patterns establish a rhythm, while fluid materials bring variation to each painting. The open spaces between the forms gather light and shadow, drawing the surrounding architecture into the composition.

The forms are crafted from wood locally in Charleston, then wrapped in canvas using the same preparatory process as my traditional paintings. Layers of fluid acrylic and sand build color and texture across the surface, allowing each panel to develop its own variations within the larger arrangement.

The works are designed for temporary or permanent wall installation. Temporary displays use small double-pointed steel fasteners, which leave minimal pinholes when removed. Permanent installations use concealed Fastmount® clips.
